The Fountainhead of Truth
In the book ‘The Fountain Head’ Ayn Rand displays a genius story of an ‘individualist’ named Howard Roark, who chooses to fight for his human spirit and artistic personal truth over collectivism. He denounces the traditional worship for his own integrity to be an individual. Rand states her truth through this novel by shedding light on the uniqueness of the independent mind, in all its glory. The book left me contemplating my own truth and where I stand on the topic of collective consciousness versus individuality.
Universal Truth Vs. Individual Truth
Life is a paradox, as are we. We are individuals and the entire Universe at the same time. We are One with Everything! I’m gonna say it……..Yes, we are God! (This is my truth, it does not have to be yours). We are here to have ‘Original Thought’ and to have ‘Self-Expression’. We are here to know who we are…..We are the creator! What we create in this life will ether die with this body or it will remain for eternity based on its beauty and workability for the higher good.
As we awaken to our higher selves, we honor truth and honestly more than validation and admiration. Truth becomes our path to freedom!
“People think that a liar gains a victory over his victim.
What I’ve learned is that a lie is an act of self-abdication,
because one surrenders one’s reality to the person to whom one lies,
making that person one’s master,
condemning oneself from then on to faking the sort of reality that person’s view requires to be faked…
The man who lies to the world, is the world’s slave from then on…
There are no white lies, there is only the blackest of destruction,
and a white lie is the blackest of all.”
As we awaken to the truth, we see no evil. We begin to know heaven or hell as a state of mind. We begin to create heaven through being in alignment with our own integrity. We have no reason to lie. We live authentic, genuine, beautiful lives! We begin to find fulfillment and joy in everything we do because it is who we are!
In ‘The Edinburgh Lectures’ Thomas Troward’s very essence is TRUTH. He acknowledges the individual while declaring we are all One. We may view each individual as different, but Spiritual Principles and Law is the same for everyone. He goes on to say that Intelligence is separate from individuality. There is no such thing as duality. The entire Universe is One, non-duality. Even the heroin addict is on a Spiritual Journey. It is all good because it teaches us all relativity and demands us to step into service. In order for one to have salvation, we all must have revelation.
Individual expression can be viewed as selfish, but both Thomas Troward and brilliant writers like Ayn Rand disagree. In the book ‘The Fountainhead’ Ayn Rand theme is one of the most challenging ideas ever presented in a work of fiction…That man’s ego is the fountainhead of human progress.
Achievement of your happiness is the only moral purpose of your life,
and that happiness, not pain or mindless self-indulgence,
is the proof of your moral integrity,
since it is the proof and the result of your loyalty to the achievement of your values.”
– Ayn Rand
Happiness is your moral obligation! When we live our lives based on Universal truths, we begin to include everything into our very existence. Troward states that ‘Universality’ is to include all things. Funny, to think that our own Colleges are called Universities. Knowledge is power. Knowledge is the understanding. Understanding and communication is the solvent to any problem. Understanding is compassion and love.
Through our Daily Spiritual Practice we awaken to the truth. We no longer argue from the negative, we argue for the positive. We no longer measure ourselves from our circumstances. We know we are Divine Spiritual Beings. We are like nature, evolving to the highest good….. We are expansive…… We are abundant. We put our attention on innovation and creativity. As our consciousness expands, we are able to experience being more alive.
