Dear Diary,

Welcome to day 22 of the 40 Day Spiritual Practice!

21 days – Science shows that it takes 22 days to break old habits and create new neuro-pathways.

40 days – The Universe and Spirit create in 40 day increments, re-birth. (Solar Year)

Overview:

This program is a 40 day program where you pick one new thing you would like to create in your life.  You will be doing this one thing consistently for 40 days.  If you miss one day, you must begin again at day one.

The purpose of having a Spiritual Practice is to live in alignment with your truth…….’Let it go’!

‘Let it go’

Stop, stopping the flow.  Let it go!  Allow yourself to live in alignment with your truth.  Allow life to flow!  Let it go to where you are living in bliss.  Let it go to good times with good people.  Let it go to peace, heaven and serenity.  Let it go!  We think that letting it go, means to give up something.  Letting it go, is allowing it to flow.  Let life go to where you are happy, fulfilled and expressed.   Let it go!

Serenity Prayer

“God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change
The courage to change the things I can
and wisdom to know the difference.”

-Reinhold Niebuhr

Living one day at a time and being completely present to what ‘is’ now, is living in serenity.  When we are not able to be in serenity, we can either accept suffering or we can do the work to get back to serenity.  Accepting life as it is and not wanting it to be different is the first practice.  Acceptance.  Notice the things that you are unable to change.  Notice the things you can change.  What we resist persists, so the first step is accepting things as they are.  This allow the possibility for something to change.  The next step is having the courage to change the things we can.  We can change the way we view things.  We can change our belief about something.  We can change how we are reacting to something or someone.  We can change how we relate to something or someone. We can make new choices, take new actions, do something different.

Having a Daily Spiritual Practice allows the time to do this inner work. One of the miracles that happens when we meditate and pray on the ‘Serenity Prayer’ is that we often end our suffering by altering our viewpoint.  We release fixed, limited thoughts that no longer serve us.   We transcend ourselves and others through the transcendence of our thoughts.  When we know everything is whole, perfect and complete, we are able to move into acceptance and courage…. We become wise!  The wisdom comes when you can accept a situation to remain the same or change.  The wisdom comes when you have the courage to do nothing or everything. The wisdom is in the ability to be the cause of everything.

When we hand our lives over to God, we are essentially handing it over to our ‘higher thinking’, which has the ability to see all perspectives.  When we hand our lives over to God, we move beyond our ‘individual thinking’ and allowing the possibility of ‘anything and everything’ is possible.  This is where the miracles happen.

“G.O.D. stands for ‘Goodness On Demand’.

At any point in time I can tap into my goodness!”

 – Rev. James Mellon

Someone asked me for advice yesterday about making a decision of what to do regarding a person they wanted to date.  They said they thought they like the person more than the other person liked them.  In fact, they didn’t even know if the other person liked them.   He went on to say that they had been friends for some time and he had developed feelings for this person.  He asked, “What should I do?”   I quoted good advice that had once been told to me and now I live by…

When we have a commitment to serenity, we know the answer.  The answer is always to act in accordance to your truth.  We  have to speak our truth.  Honesty is the fist step to serenity.  Speak your truth and then ‘Let Go and Let God.’   Being ok with any outcome is the work in the mind that frees us up to ‘let it go’.

“Let it go”

Letting it go…is believing and allowing the abundance of the universe to flow.  A wise man once told a story of a butterfly. He said, “There is a saying that love is like a butterfly, as is life.  If you hold on to the butterfly too tight, it will die.  But if you allow it take flight and fly freely it will flourish.  There is a chance that it will fly away and never come back, but …It is said that if it comes back to you, it is yours for life.”

When we live our lives based on our truth……. and in accordance with ‘Spiritually Based Principles’…… We know the truth, that abundance and love are everywhere!

The heavenly kingdom is in our minds.  When we are in ‘right thinking’ we live in Divinity… Our minds are heavenly.  A mind that thinks abundantly, creates abundant.  A mind that thinks in scarcity, creates scarcity.  We create heaven or hell here on earth.   Having a ‘Daily Spiritual Practice’ allows us to stay in ‘right thinking’ and experience heaven on earth.   You are the same Divine energy that created the greatest temples on earth.  You are the same energy that created the world, the galaxies and the space between.

Not even I can stop the truth of abundance and love everywhere!

Homework:

1.  What are you willing to let go of?

2.  What limited beliefs are you willing to let go of?

3.  Where in life are you forcing and controlling things, that is bringing you mental suffering?

4.  Where are you acting in fear instead of faith?
