Dear Diary,

Welcome to day 5 of the 40 Day Spiritual Practice!

21 days – Science shows that it takes 21 days to break old habits and create new neuro-pathways.

40 days – The universe and spirit creates in 40 day increments, re-birth. (Solar Year)

Overview:

This program is a 40 day program where you pick one new thing you would like to create in your life.  You will be doing this one thing consistently for 40 days.  If you miss one day, you must begin again at day one.

Today we are going to take a look at how to create new beliefs.  What beliefs are you committed to having versus what beliefs are you ready to let go of?

There is an old tale of wisdom, it is a story of an Indian grandfather teaching his grandson through the power of myth….

“ONE EVENING, AN ELDERLY
CHEROKEE BRAVE TOLD HIS
GRANDSON ABOUT A BATTLE THAT
GOES ON INSIDE PEOPLE.

HE SAID “MY SON, THE BATTLE IS
BETWEEN TWO ‘WOLVES’ INSIDE US ALL.
ONE IS EVIL. IT IS ANGER,
ENVY, JEALOUSY, SORROW,
REGRET, GREED, ARROGANCE,
SELF-PITY, GUILT, RESENTMENT,
INFERIORITY, LIES, FALSE PRIDE,
SUPERIORITY, AND EGO.

THE OTHER IS GOOD.
IT IS JOY, PEACE LOVE, HOPE SERENITY,
HUMILITY, KINDNESS, BENEVOLENCE,
EMPATHY, GENEROSITY,
TRUTH, COMPASSION AND FAITH.”

THE GRANDSON THOUGH ABOUT
IT FOR A MINUTE AND THEN ASKED
HIS GRANDFATHER:

“WHICH WOLF WINS?…”

THE OLD CHEROKEE SIMPLY REPLIED,
“THE ONE THAT YOU FEED”

What actions are you going to take to make sure you are going to commit to the new belief?  Sometimes we have to choose to be around healthier, happier people who support our new ways of being.   Sometimes we have to alter our bodies chemistry through exercise, sleep and good nutrition.  Some times we need to educate ourselves and ask for help to understand what it is going to take to create new belief systems.

I would like to congratulate you for taking an action for yourself, in your life, toward what you want to create.  Beliefs are habits.  When we want to break old habits and create new ones, we are working against our old ways of being.  There could be resistance, but what is the path of least resistance?  It seems harder to stay in the gap of suffering and not getting what we want out of life.  It is harder to stay being someone we don’t want to be any longer, than to break the chains and step into our truth.

“If you don’t stand for something you will fall for anything.”

-Malcom X

What beliefs are you going to stand for?

When are you going to battle for your right to have the life you want and for who you want to be?

Actions/Commitments we can take to create new belief systems:

*Identify limiting beliefs

*Identify/Choose abundant belief

*Daily prayer/meditation

*End chaos that no longer serves our new beliefs (People, place and things)

*Create healthy lifestyle that supports our new beliefs

*Journal: Identity where and why we have limited beliefs

*Journal:  Who would I be, do, have if the new belief was true.

*Spiritual Treatment:  Use spiritual logic to unravel any limited beliefs

*Reach and withdrawal:  Visualize the new belief as true, imagine life with new belief.  Then, visualize the limited belief as true, imagine life with old belief.  Be able to be ok with either scenario.  When you can be at peace with either, you can have the preference of the new belief.  (What we resist persists).

Homework:

1.  Choose a belief you want as your truth.

2.  Write down all the actions you can take to commit to this belief.  (ex. Affirmations)
